Customer reviews of George Winston Piano Solos (Piano Solo)

Customer Rating: Summary: Lovely Collection Marred by Poor Editing Comment: As an accomplished sight-reader, it's great to have this George Winston collection. However, I have to take off a star for the many errors and illogical settings. It seems apparent to me that the "someone else" who transcribed his performances was an electronic keyboard or computer and Hal Leonard didn't work very hard to improve the computer's setting of the music. Besides just plain wrong notes, we get impossible ottava markings and weird stuff like two-note arpeggios. Lovely music but I'd rather save my pencil for interpretive markings instead of endless corrections.
Customer Rating: Summary: Finally! Comment: My daughter has waited a long time to get George Winston's music. It was well worth the wait! Excellent book. I can't wait to hear her play it all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good, but not perfect Comment: I bought it mostly for the Canon in C variation. However, at least that score has many many errors that I had to correct. Many notes are off by a half step and would make any listener grimace if you played it as written (especially on the 2nd and last page of that song). But all in all, it's nice to have the score. You just have to do a little improvising yourself and catch the errors. Also note, that the scores are different from the recordings, so be prepared for that too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just Like George Winston! Comment: Wonderfully transcribed music to sound just like George Winston's pieces. I love this book! Not too difficult.
Customer Rating: Summary: Very enjoyable! Comment: As some reviewers wrote, some transcriptions are not same as the recording. Regardless, this book is very enjoyable. Who doesn't enjoy playing George Winston's beautiful music? I think any player can enjoy this book because it is not very hard technically. I would have been even much happier if this book had included more blues, like "Miles City Train".
