Summary: Songs for the whole family to enjoy!
Comment: I'm so happy to have found this again. We were given the cassette when it first came out, and my kids loved it! We broke our cassette tape years ago, but I kept it hoping some day to fix it. Recently, I was reminded of the songs again, and came to Amazon to look for it. I'm pleased to have it as a download and will purchase it as a CD as well. The kids, now late teens, still love this music!

Summary: Fascinating
Comment: For those that don't know what this is,,,,,,it's essentially smooth electronic jazz, but all the sounds were created by sampling sounds made by animals. Thus the kick drum sound comes from the wing-whir of the Ruffed Grouse, the "singing" from a parrot at the San Diego Zoo, and all the other "instruments" created from the sounds of wildlife. The liner notes explain where each instrument sound came from in each song.
A fascinating idea, well executed, very listenable and fun.

Summary: A classic!
Comment: It's neat to see people discovering this CD in the 90's. I first heard it when it first came out, as Schoolkid's Records here in Ann Arbor MI had it featured soon as they got it. It was a bargain for what it truly is-even now, 14 years later, very listenable and current-sounding. I completely wore out my tape of it and had to buy the CD of it recently. These critters were ahead of their time! Give this a play and then call your local smooth jazz station and DEMAND they play something from "Gorillas in the Mix!" You will love the howling wolves and Turkey Corwin, parrot star of the San Diego Zoo!

Summary: The most interesting CD you could ever own.
Comment: On a trip to San Diego almost 10 years ago I first heard music from this CD. A DJ had given a friend we were staying with a copy of the album. We knew of it then as Jungle Shoes. My friend and I fell in love with it and when it was finally available, my friend mailed me a copy. I love the reactions of people who just don't believe there are no instruments on the album. My personal favorite is Gaia Dreams, it's glorious, serene and soothing. Whenever I get stressed out, it always calms me. The beginning of the song consists of rain falling, very softly then birds crying out then the full scope of the music begins. There is something for everyone, rap, rock, classical, comic.. everything! If you listen to a sample.. you'll be hooked!

Summary: Fruity Instramental
Comment: I first heard cuts from this album when I was visiting Sea World of Florida in 1993. Several of the selections were featured in Sea World's Whale and Dolphin Discovery Cove Show. After the show I asked about the selections, but the sound tech didn't know the artist or album name. Some 3 years later, I heard the same music as background music during a local radio ad. I called the radio station and asked the DJ what the music was and I was forwarded to the program director...who finally told me that it was Krause. It's a feel good CD that comes highly recommended as an uptempo combo of new age and jazz and calypso...
