Summary: A grand, grand compilation
Comment: This may be the best compilation CD of Celtic music I've come across so far. The majority of the cuts in this CD are as fine as the genre gets. In this superlative category, I would include the offerings by William Coulter, 4 Yb Y Bar, Natalie MacMaster, the Poozies, Máire Breatnach, Eileen ivers & John Whelan, Dominic Bouchaud and Talitha MacKenzie Each is gorgeous in its own way. The least accomplished was the Barra MacNeils offering, which seemed a trifle saccharine, Déanta's piecce which seemed a bit forced, and Maighréad Ni Dhomhnaill's piece, a little below her capabilitiy. Among the exquisite top offerings, 4 Un Y Bar is an all around winner, Natalie MacMaster makes "If Ever You Were Mine" forever hers, Máire' Breatnach's Swans at Coole hurts with its beauty, Ivers & Whelan's waltz piece is truly inspired, and Talith MacKenzie's lullaby is one of the finest I've ever heard. This CD is close to perfect, get it, get it! Narada, who puts it out, realy knew what it was doing.l

Summary: A wistful, sentimental journey that takes your breath away
Comment: The work of artists from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Wales, Cape Breton Island, Galicia and America is featured in this primarily gentle and reflective collection featuring both accoustic and electronic instruments, as well as some vocals. Though mostly mellow, these evocative, heartfelt selections still command one's attention, leaving one yearning for more. The contributing musicians are William Coulter, Orion, The Barra MacNeils, 4 yn y Bar, Natalie MacMaster, Milladoiro, the Poozies, Maire Breatnach, Maighread Ni Dhomhmaill, William Jackson, John Whelan/Eileen Ivers, Altan, Deanta, Deiseal, Dominig Bouchaud, Cyrille Colas and Talitha MacKenzie. Especially poignant are Deanta's "Harvest of Culloden", Orion's "Douce Mousitomanie", Natalie MacMaster's "If Ever You Were Mine", and Maire Breatnach's "The Swans at Coole" and Dominig Bouchaud's "Une chanson a la mariee". If you like the music of "Celtic Legacy", you'll also enjoy a similar compilation by Narada entitled "Celtic Odyssey".

Summary: Great introduction to Celtic world that just gets better
Comment: I first purchased this CD as an intro to Celtic music. Now, years later, it continues to be one of my favorite CDs. When I play the CD at parties or gatherings people stop talking and ask me the name of the CD. It is hard to keep it as background music, the performances are so compelling that you feel you must actively listen. Each track offers outstanding performances. A wonderful intro to the various groups and styles out there that continues to deliver enjoyment even after the tracks become familiar friends.

Summary: This album is worth it!
Comment: I recieved this album as a gift, and from day one I have absolulty loved it. Each song brings to mind a different place and a different time. Many of the songs are wonderful to lay down and listen to if I want to relax, and others seem to invigorate me. This is a must have for anyone who enjoys Celtic music or history, or for someone who just loves good music!
