Customer reviews of De l'Amour le Mieux

Customer Rating: Summary: A Rich & Warm Soundscape: A Perfect Introduction Comment: With Natasha St-Pier's second major label release, the New-Brunswick born chanteuse creates a warm, often Spanish-influenced soundscape filled with lush harmonies and infectious melodies. 'De l'amour le mieux' also marks the beginning of a new direction for St-Pier as realized by her personal growth as an artist, and the beginning of her collaborations with french language powerhouse Pascal Obispo.
Even a cursory glance at the writing credits for the album indicates the high quality one can expect from this release. Not only does St-Pier reconnect with J. Kapler (who penned her Eurovision Song Contest 4th place entry 'Je n'ai que mon âme'), but she lends her inspiring vocals to songs written by such names as Jean-Jacques Goldman (most recently known for his huge contributions to Celine Dion's french releases beginning with 'D'eux'), Lionel Florence, and Pascal Obispo.
Album highlights include 'Tu trouveras,' 'Nos rendez-vous,' 'Pourquoi tant des larmes,' 'L'amour emporte tout,' and 'Là -bas' (with Florent Pagny). Though the first single 'Tu trouveras' is easily the strongest track on the album, one would be hard-pressed to find a truly weak track in the collection. The range of styles varies significantly throughout the course of the album from the light, Lorie-esque 'Les chansons ne sevent à rien' to the somber 'Toi qui manque à ma vie' in which St-Pier displays to full advantage the clarity and emotional power of her voice.
Under the guiding hand of Obispo, St-Pier's sophomore effort shines. A best selling recording artist and songwriter in his own right, Obispo co-produced and sang backing vocals on nearly every track on the album. His careful production allows St-Pier's voice to express its full range and emotive potential. Unlike the sometimes clumsy production work on St-Pier's earlier release 'A chacun son histoire,' the production of 'De l'amour le mieux' is immaculate.
Overall, 'De l'amour le mieux' is a cohesive, high quality album which could have been used as an indicator to predict the tremendous success of St-Pier's two subsequent albums. For those new to the incomparable voice of Natasha St-Pier, this album is an excellent starting point; certain to both capture and keep the attention of an entire spectrum of listeners.
An alternate version of the album featuring many of the songs in Spanish is also available under the title 'Encontraras.'
Customer Rating: Summary: truely beautiful voice Comment: As someone exploring the french vocal searching for some gems, I was delighted by her truely beautiful voice. The album has some great songs and it is by far the pick of my recent purchases along with Julie Zenatti "Dans Les Yeux D'un Autre". As an introduction to mainstream french music, it is a great start. The comparisons to Celine Dion are a little unkind!
Customer Rating: Summary: The Girl with the Pretty Voice Comment: Natasha St Pierre has joined forces with Pascal Obisbo to create a CD that is typical of his work. Lush production, with plenty of synthesisers and strings. Above that is Natasha's voice, which soars; strong and natural.
This is a CD or rare value. A great young singer with a great voice, and with great songs (many co-written by Pascal). I am glad that I purchased this and her later work L'Instant d'Apres.
Customer Rating: Summary: oh Comment: I like the voice. Reminds me of Celine too much though. Rene (Mr. Celine Dion) discovered Natasha.
Customer Rating: Summary: French love Comment: I met Natasha's music when driving from Geneve to Paris with one of my dearest friends. She introduced me to this amazing French diva. I felt in love inmediately with her voice. Natasha's songs can be heard for hours without tiring up. The songs were well chosen, providing the CD of a right balance. I bough it at Virgin's at Champs d'Elisee just right arriving Paris and I could not stop listening to it for the next four or five weeks. My second time in Europe coincided with the second release and didn't hesitate to buy it. De L'Amour Le Mieux is much better though. I also recommend another great French female singer, Nolwenn Leroy.
