Comment: I was interested in the lost solfeggio frequncies and had purchased a number of cd's that utilized the tuning forks. Most of them really were not very good at all. I can't say I noticed anything happening. However, with Holy Harmony, I could really feel something going on here. I have both chanted along, (although, not for 72 minutes!), and just listened with headphones. I can feel my body literally vibrating when I'm listening to this cd. The chant of the ancient name of the Lord is very powerful. There is a profound feeling of peace and serentity that comes over me when I listen or chant with this cd. I'm not sure about the whole DNA activation theory associated with these frequencies but if there was something happening on the genetic level I don't know how we would begin to go about measuring something like that scientifically. But for meditation purposes, this a really a winner.

Comment: I had just found out about entrainment and wanted to try it to see what happens. Looking for a source of 9 hz frequencies, I found an article written by Jonathan Goldman that was fascinating about some of the work he's been involved in, and wound up buying this CD.
The first time I heard it, I was playing cards with family - it was rowdy and we weren't really listening to it much but still I felt odd tingles and aches moving through different parts of my body. After a few more times, I felt a definite heaviness in my heart during certain parts.
Fascinating and very interesting. Now I have to find out more about chakras and tuning forks. Ha!

Summary: Spiritual healing through Solfeggio Sounds
Comment: There is evidence that sacred sound in the form of pure sounds, music, song and chant has been applied as medicine from ancient times. Some consider it the most ancient of all therapies. Pythagoras was aware of this. Others who wrote about the therapeutic effect of music on the soul include the Persian scholar Abu Nasr al-Farabi (872 - 951) who discussed music therapy in his book Meanings of the Intellect and Robert Burton in his extraordinary tome The Anatomy of Melancholy (1621).
The subtitle of this sonic masterpiece is Healing Code Tuning Forks & Ancient YHSVH Chant. The music blends two sounds: the tones of tuning forks cut to 9 frequencies known as healing codes or Solfeggio Tones and the vocal mantra chant Yod Hey Shin Vav Hey which is the 5-fold name of the Divine, chanted by Goldman and Sarah Benson.
This combination is the Holy Name (Tetragrammaton) of which one meaning is Life Giver, with the Hebrew sound "Shin" added in the middle. "The energy of Spirit descended into matter" is the mystical meaning of this sound & the letter representing it. It was probably pronounced Yahushua in ancient, and Yeshua (emphasis on 2nd syllable "oo" sound) in later Hebrew. Almost every word in the language has more than one, sometimes many layers of meaning. Two related meanings of this divine name are "Life Saver" and "Divine Healer."
Six electromagnetic sonic frequencies (cycles per second) were found in the book Healing Codes for the Biological Apocalypse by Drs. Leonard Horowitz & Joseph Puleo who discovered them in the Tenakh (Old Testament). They are 396, 417, 28, 639, 741, 852. During the recording of an earlier work, Goldman's sound engineer and co-producer, someone with a mathematical mind, suggested that there ought to be 3 further frequencies to complete the scale. This was confirmed by Dr Horowitz; these Herz are 174, 285 & 963.
There are two instrumental sounds: a bell-like sound when a fork is struck and a cluster of continuous & interweaving droning chimes of various pitches, obviously the aforementioned frequencies. The psychological effect of the music is immediate - it dissolves emotions like anger, anxiety, depression & irritation, replacing them with peace. I strongly suspect it has physical properties too.
Another potent source of sonic healing is the sublime work The Sacred Names by Anjani Thomas from Hawaii. She plays keyboards and guitar while bass and percussion round off the sound, which is mostly gentle and acoustic. The moving Kyrie Eleison is sung in Greek & Aramaic; she also sings in Hebrew, Portuguese and English. On the exultant Blessing her voice really soars on the most beautiful melody on the album. The last two tracks are quite esoteric, the last one being especially enchanting with awesome comforting and healing emanations. Initially it made my hair stand on end; it is best listened to with a prayerful attitude. The CD case contains a glossary of Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Syriac (Aramaic) terms.
I am not a lover of classical music, nor am I familiar with the other work of Steve Reich, but his Tehillim (Psalms) unleashes a torrent of hope & divine power. Being minimalist music, it may initially sound repetitive but repeated listening will reveal subtle and intriguing variations and shifting textures that become more prominent the more familiar one becomes with the music. I have always found it to be an inspiring, even rousing listening experience that is good for the soul. The vocals sound like massed angelic choirs in places although consisting of only two lyric sopranos, one high soprano and one male alto, over hypnotic percussive patterns.
The original Hebrew text is provided side by side with the English translation and one is sort of overwhelmed when you look at the huge variety of instruments employed: maracas, marimba, tuned tambourines, flute, oboe, vibraphone, organs, violins, viola, crotales and cello to mention a few. The four tracks are Psalms 19: 2 - 5, 34: 13 - 15, 18: 26 - 27 & 150: 4 - 6. My favorites are the second ("Who is the man that desires life and loves days to see good? Guard your tongue from evil & your lips from speaking deceit. Turn from evil & do good, seek peace & pursue it") and the 4th which opens with the line "Praise Him with drum & dance," an immensely powerful piece that is the most beautiful expression of spiritual ecstasy I have ever experienced.
Kabbalah Music: Songs of the Jewish Mystics by Laura Wetzler contains meditations, devotions and ecstasies from around the world. Three tracks have a marked salutary effect on me: the up-tempo Hymn to Bar Yochai (words by Simeon Labi 1525 - 1585) with many exotic instruments, Shalom Alechem, a slow tender song with only vocals & guitars and the tunefully lilting & distinctly African-sounding Lecha Dodi (words by Salomon Alkabetz 1505 - 1584, Lugandan words by Gershom Sizomu, music by JJ Keki), sung by Westzler, Keki and Sizomu in a mixture of Hebrew & Lugandan.
The informative CD booklet of Holy Harmony provides more information on the healing codes and the YHSVH chant, along with quotes from the work of the aforementioned author Dr. Horowitz. The cover displays an inspiring hand drawn geometrical symbol by Donald Beaman, representing the descent of the tree of life and the ascent of the tree of knowledge. Jonathan Goldman is a writer, healer, musician and teacher. An authority on sound healing, he is also a pioneer in the field of harmonics. In Hebrew, the letters YHVH is known as the Tetragrammeton. Christians commonly pronounce it "Yah way" (Yaweh). The Latin version is known as Jehovah. When adding the S (shin) letter to this ancient name for God, a new word is formed. According to the liner notes: "This single-letter name alteration portrays the method to be used by an individual for personal transformation from human into super-human, from earthly to heavenly, from body into spirit, via 'crucifixion' on the 'cross of time and space'."
In the New Testament, it is said that the disciples cast out demons with the name of Jesus. Because of the powerful vibration of the name of Christ, the sacred chant of YHSVH works in miraculous ways. The chant itself is "Yod Hey Shin Vav Hey", and in Holy Harmony, this chant is sung in beautiful harmony by male and female choral voices.
Personally, I have never heard anything like this CD. One would think that hearing "Yod Hey Shin Vav Hey" over and over would be tiresome, but I assure you it is not. In fact, when I listen to this CD, I always anticipate the "Vav" note, because it gives me shivers. I feel such a reverence and awe as I listen to the sacred tones of the tuning forks, as well as the powerful vibrational energy of the YHSVH choral chants. The incredible energy this CD generates reminds me of my experiences as a Pentecostal/Charismatic minister, where being "slain in the spirit" was accompanied by a profound spiritual power filled with peace, clarity and healing.
According to Jonathan Goldman: "In various specialized workshops, I had groups chant YHSVH. The effect was extraordinary. In addition to its ability to produce Divine frequencies and thus cleanse imbalanced and negative energies, it also seemed to specifically activate the thymus gland's related energy center and anchor--what I call the 'Christ Energy'--into the body. This energy is able to do a vibrational recalibration of our cellular structure and DNA."
Having being profoundly touched by this CD, I believe it.
