Customer reviews of Timbuktoubab
|
Customer Rating: Summary: Timbuktoubab Comment: This was my first Markus James Cd and found it totally satisfying and relaxing. Once I had purchased and listened to this Cd I immediately ordered the other Markus James Cd 'Nightbird'. It is fantastic blues sounds mixed with African sounds and the result is very stimulating and enjoyable. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another great effort Comment: Now I have to go and get all of his CDs. This album is a bit more fast-paced than the "Nightbird" album, but it is just as good. A wonderful collection of music.
Customer Rating: Summary: Spectacular! Comment: If Ali Farka Toure had been Talking Timbuktu with Tom Waits rather than Ry Cooder this would have been the result! A dark, moody, bluesy synergy of African and Western languages, instruments and concepts. Spectacular!
Customer Rating: Summary: love this cd! Comment: After seeing a magically wonderful Markus James and friends show at the Sonoma County, CA Health and Harmony fair, I had to get this CD. I actually looked for it locally but couldn't find a copy. I was delighted to find it on Amazon and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves blues and Ali Farke Toure. Great music for working, driving, walking, lovemaking, housecleaning or whatever rocks your boat. Hard to feel depressed though... Don't miss these marvelous musicans live they are really a class act.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sahara / Blues: a unique sound Comment: I heard this on the radio and had to find out more about it. It's by an American songwriter who has been travelling to Timbuktu, Mali and recording with some great traditional musicians there. The songs reflect a real collaboration, and
the deep roots of blues-influenced music. I love "Hey Gabriel", "Mone / Jump Up and Fly", "Far As I Can Run / Majirica Samba" .... highly recommended.
