Customer reviews of Natural States

Customer Rating: Summary: Big Disappointment Comment: Having purchased the original CD "Natural States" by Lanz and Speer in the late '80s (along with their other new-age CD called "Desert Vision"), I quickly purchased the laser-disk (remember those?) versions. The music was great, and the videos were quite good as well. I still have them.
Good thing I kept them. Because the video quality on both of the DVD versions is absolutely disgusting, especially on Natural States (Desert Vision is marginally better). While the sound quality is OK, it looks as if they took a worn-out VHS tape and copied it onto DVD with absolutely NO processing to improve the picture quality. Even with my limited resources, I could have done a far superior job. What a rip-off!!! ZERO stars!!!
Amazon should immediately pull ALL products produced by this company.
Customer Rating: Summary: america Comment: This video is a corporate tragedy and what is wrong with this great country now. Greed. Take profoundly beautiful scenery - fly overs of some of the most luscious natural environs we have, coupled with gorgeous, cheerful music and record it on video tape. Video tape cannot be restored to digital as well as can film, because film contains much more information then video tape. So to save a few bucks, the corporation decided to pop for video tape but not film. This means that forever, this visual and audio masterpiece will never be able to be transferred to digital with any degree of high definition, and that, in my opinion is a tragedy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Revisited an old friend Comment: I had the original David Lanz, Paul Spheer's "Natural States" on cassette tape, then VHS, then soundtrack again on CD - so naturally I had to have the DVD!
This incredible piece of music and video soothingly documents what the Pacific Northwest was like years before over-population and pollution.
Its brief 45-minute journey will gently take you far from the grind of daily life and give you a renewed appreciation of Nature's majesty.
Customer Rating: Summary: 5 Stars for Location, 0 (Big Fat ZERO) for viewing quality. Comment: Not worth the price. Very bad quality picture. Music is okay.
Customer Rating: Summary: Natural States DVD Comment: I had bought this DVD to replace my aging VHS tape. The music is great, the video is very grainy, I would have thought that they might have tried to clean it up a bit for the DVD. Another weird thing they did was to use titles for the chapters that seem to have NO relation to the song the video was made for. In other words on the VHS the tracks are named for the song as they are on the CD, on the DVD they have "other" names, so if you are used to the VHS or CD names you won't see them on the chapter list. They are listed in the credits at the end of the video.
