Customer reviews of Reina

Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting Comment: I can not agree with all these reviewers here, I only liked 4 tracks on this CD the R&B styled Sister Twisted & I Say Hey, and the more Acid styled Again and So On & How Do They Do That. Considering that this CD has 12 tracks, 4 out of 12 is still a good CD in my book, and those 4 tracks left me wanting more Kinky, so I am here purchasing Kinky their first release. Got my fingers crossed for maybe 5 good ones.
Customer Rating: Summary: I'm Really Trying to Like This...Really I Am... Comment: Sometimes what they say is true and a band's first album is really their best work. While Kinky's self-titled first release was a non-stop sexy Latin techno dance party from beginning to end, this album is just full of sounds I'm already tired of. I really don't need to hear the Talking Heads all over again or Technotronic for that matter. I've had this CD in rotation in my car for months and short of really liking the opening track, Sister Twisted, and the haunting Adonde Van Los Muertos (Where Do The Dead Go), the rest is almost work to listen through. This CD is taking a long time to grow on me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty damn good Comment: I've gotta say, these guys remind me of a cross between global lounge music and the Clash, circa Combat Rock. Even a touch of Italian pop in there. Truly international rock, and pretty' hip at that.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD of a New Wave Retro Comment: Wall of Voodoo, Men At Work, B-52s and Esquivel dancing on this CD. Great and delicious. Buy It!!!!!!!!!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: crowd pleaser Comment: I haven't had much chance to have this on as anything other than background music but I've nejoyed all I've heard. Also, I dj at a bar in Buffalo and the crowd loves the "Sister Twisted" and "A Donde Van Los Meurtos" tracks.

Editorial Reviews:
|
On their third album Reina, Kinky turn chaos into a grand celebration as they conquer mudslides, floods and collapsing houses to produce their most exciting album yet. Album opener "Sister Twisted" invites you on to the dance floor with its playful and bouncy beat, and the high-speed song "Again And So On" speaks of looking for the differences in each day so life doesn't get monotonous. The kick-back track "Monday Killer" suggests staying in bed all day with your lover and wasting the day away, while the beat-driven "A Donde Van Los Muertos," the most romantic track on the album, speaks of death but as an expression of love. Having completed their recording sessions, Kinky -- lead vocalist Gilberto Cerezo, keyboardist Ulises Lozano, guitarist Carlos Chairez, bassist Cesar Pliego and drummer Omar Gongora -- are anxious to kick it into gear and hit the road this fall. The band is eager to set a whole new array of dance floors afire.
