Customer reviews of In the Blood

Customer Rating: Summary: New Versions of Old Favorites and New Songs Comment: Some of these songs will be familiar to Mirabal's fans, as he's recorded new versions of Medicine Man, Little Indians, The Dance, and Ee-You-Oo. Yet it's still worth getting this CD rather than simply downloading the brand new tracks. The new versions have richer textures, a few more subtle undertones, and seem "definitive," while new songs like Brave New World and Holding Up The Sky continue to showcase Mirabal as one of music's best contemporary rock artists with a gift for poetic lyrics and social commentary. If you've not heard his music before, you can't find a better place to start.
Catchy melodies, strong vocals, and deftly crafted lyrics are the hallmark of Mirabal's work. Mirabal's Native American perspective adds meaning and depth to his view of the world, yet sits firmly entrenched in the roots of all great rock and roll--- the desire for love, peace, and sheer celebration of the sacredness of life through the healing power of music.
Customer Rating: Summary: Must Have Comment: For anyone who enjoys Native American this is a must have. Listen to the CD & enjoy
Customer Rating: Summary: In the Blood, indeed! Comment: Robert Mirabal is an artist of amazing scope and talent. I love all of his albums, but "In the Blood", "Music from a Painted Cave" and "Mirabal" are three of my favorites. His Christmas album is wonderful also.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mirabal in MY BLOOD Comment: Once the Mirabal has gotten into your blood, his evolution just whirlwinds higher and higher. Just went through and listened to the samples, like i needed to, and heard his soul shine through, as i expected. An artist to be in awe of, followed, and taught by.
Once again Robert, my heart thanks you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mirabal's music Comment: I loved it! Anyone who is interested in First Nations poetry and music should check Robert Mirabal's music. He is a consumate musician and poet.

Editorial Reviews:
|
After a four-year hiatus, Native American recording artist Robert Mirabal is back with the strongest album of his career. The 13 tracks on In the Blood blend scenes from the American experience with themes from contemporary Native life. Sung both in English and Tiwa, Mirabal’s native tongue, love songs merge with ghost songs that roll into Americana ballads and full-on tribal rockers. Produced by Nashville legend Andy Byrd, this concept album features new renditions of Mirabal favorites like 'Medicine Man' and 'The Dance' beside new works like 'Brave New World' and 'Holding up the Sky'. His ninth release overall and second on his own label; this album honors Robert’s songs in a new way, taking us on a echno-tribal journey that returns us to family, hope and love.
