Summary: Simply Breath-taking!
Comment: I had been to the athens concert years back and just fell in love with this guy. I play the classics on the piano and would just sit down and listen to track after track of his compositions.

Comment: A collection of favorites that were previously released on Yanni's many earlier albums, "In Celebration of Life" features mostly high-energy selections. The exuberant, beat-filled compositions are both motivating and uplifting. There is also an innocent, wonder-filled joie de vivre about this music that can release one's inner child. This compilation album, and also another similar one--"Reflections of Passion"--are great introductions to Yanni's multi-layered synthesizer music. Try also his recent release, "Ethnicity", for more of his upbeat celebrations of life.

Summary: A good compilation of some of Yanni's best
Comment: I had never heard of Yanni before I was given this album, so I didn't know what to expect or even, what kind of music it was. But I was pleasantly suprised. The music is soothing while at the same time rousing in parts. I enjoy New Age music, it's the type of music that at first listen doesn't really mean much, but after a few listens it all starts to come together, and you can hear different things in the music that you had missed the first time. I recommend this album for those who enjoy New Age or any type of instrumental music.

Comment: Forget everything else from Yanni, these two compilations are all you need! "Reflections of Passion" and "In Celebration of Life" present the best of Yanni's more impressive (pre-1990) works. In my opinion, his best works ("Santorini," "Marching Season," "Keys to Imagination"), are on In Celebration of Life.

Comment: I didn't know what to expect when I bought this album. But after a few listens, I decided that I liked it although the songs were really no big deal. Although pleasant and at times interesting, they just didn't seemm to stick with me. A good effort, but ultimately not that satisfying.

This 1991 compilation is essentially a companion piece to 1990's Reflections of Passion. Combined, these two worthwhile samplers offer listeners an inexpensive way to own the best of Yanni's first four recordings. None of the 10 tracks here, including some of his most dynamic and arresting early epics ("Santorini," "Marching Season," "Keys to Imagination"), are duplicated on Reflections of Passion, which is a big plus for listeners who prefer acquiring best-of packages. Since Yanni has eight such compilations on the market, choosing the right ones could be a challenging task. Here's a tip: If your tastes lean toward Yanni's bolder, more rhythmic compositions, this 50-minute disk, in tandem with Reflections of Passion, make a great instant library of Yanni's most impressive pre-1990 works. --Terry Wood
