Summary: A Brilliant Symphony of Dark Adventure!
Comment: Every Nox Arcana CD is an event - Joseph Vargo and William Piotrowski take every album concept, whether it be haunted mansions, the legend of Dracula or pirates, and turn it into a breathtaking symphony full of rousing orchestral anthems, moody ballads and memorable melodies. With "Phantoms of the High Seas," Nox Arcana has created the definitive pirate adventure in musical form. The CD contains some of the band's best work, including "The High Seas" and "The Edge of the World," which are haunting and turbulent symphonic pieces that could have easily been part of the score of "Master and Commander," the Russell Crowe high seas adventure film of a few years ago. Another stirring piece is "Crossfire," which features a wonderful integration of choirs, sweeping strings, bells and bursts of cannonfire that convey the image of a ship engaged in pitched battle on the water. Other highlights include "Siren's Call," a menacing piece dominated by timpani and an eerie, ethereal female voice; "Trove Island," an impressive showcase of jungle drums and pipe organ; and "Fate of the Tempest," in which guest vocalist Ty Cook sings an impressive, understated ballad of a doomed ship. Vargo's elegant melody and beautiful lyrics are not to be missed. This CD is outstanding from the first track to the last.

Summary: Nox Arcana Takes To The High Seas
Comment: Once again Nox Arcana delivers a very forceful and haunting melody, this time having the listener navigate the spectral fog upon the moonlit ocean. The tracks carry their characteristic sonorous chanting as background for dark instrumentals and the eerie exuberance of secrets lost. Listen to this if you like pirates and/or Gothic music or even if you enjoy a good puzzle. I am one of the those who discovered the lost treasure of the Tempest--can you?

Summary: Visionary, Emotive and Sensational
Comment: Nox Arcana is sailing in the inspirational direction and blowing the classical and new age musicians away. They have delivered beyond creation of diverse melodies from different studio albums; Phantoms of the High Seas album has a peculiar feel of haunting melodies of the journey in the deep seas. Highlights are The High Seas, Edge of the World, Racing the Wind, Black Sails, Pirates, Trove Island and Skull and Crossbones. Particularly, I love The High Seas. The rest of the songs are very entertaining. Once more, you will thirst for more from Nox Arcana, therefore, acquire all of their albums especially Winter's Knight which is my personal favorite. Change course from the high pressure world, paranoid society and corrupted politics; discover the tranquility of orchestration from Nox Arcana. Turn off the annoying radios, life-sucking tubes/liquid crystals and cell phones and listen to Nox Arcana wherever you go and it will open the portal of your imagination and make you believe and create your dreams. Personally, Ghost of Christmas Past is my all time treasured song.

Comment: From "Darklore Manor" up to "Grimm Tales", Nox Arcana has taken us on many adventures. through a Haunted House, through the pages of Lovecraft, through the Ebonshire Forest on the eve of the winter solstice, through the dark, beautiful land of Transylvania, to a sinister carnival with nightmarish secrets, through a story of lost love and forbidden passion, then through a quest from long ago, through the tragic life of Edgar Allan Poe, and through the tales of the Brothers Grimm.
Now, Nox Arcana takes us on a spooky voyage on the high seas.
I just got this Cd today, and I have to tell you that it is the best that Nox Arcana has ever done. Every track on this Cd is great to listen to, and I also love the sound effects on this Cd, including the creepy voices that add their whispers in track number eighteen. This Cd comes highly recommended. Great for Halloween and beyond.

Summary: A Spooky Voyage like no other...
Comment: Nox Arcana is at it again, and like always they prove why they are the undisputed Kings of Haunting Music. Nox Arcana sets the course that other artists just seem to keep following! This cd is a must have whether you love all things pirates, or just enjoy a unique atmospheric soundtracks.
From the opening track with chants of YO-HO to the final note, I truly enjoyed this entire cd. I cannot imagine how they could have improved on this terrific effort.
Highly recommended!!!!
