About me
Christian – Landscape Photography between the Atlantic and the Aurora
I'm Christian, 42 years old, married and a father of four. I live in Brandenburg, Germany, and I photograph landscapes. It all started in 2015 with a Canon EOS 600D. After a longer break, I returned to photography in 2023 – and it hasn't let go of me since. Alongside family and work, I try to go on two photo trips a year, each lasting seven to ten days.
Why landscapes
I am drawn to places where nature sets the tone: sea cliffs in the Atlantic wind, fjords in the first light of morning, Arctic nights beneath the aurora. These moments are fleeting. A window of good light often lasts only a few minutes, and sometimes it never comes at all. The waiting is part of it for me.
My travels
Most of my images are made in the far north of Norway – in Lofoten, on Senja and Vesterålen, and in the Troms region around Tromsø and the Lyngen Alps. Alongside these are the rugged cliffs of the Faroe Islands, the coast of Cornwall and Dartmoor, and the volcanic landscape of Tenerife with its clear night skies above Mount Teide.
My favourite region at the moment is Troms: the Lyngen Alps, the beaches of Kvaløya and the northern lights over the fjords around Tromsø offer a variety in a small area that keeps bringing me back.
